SEMS Documentation

This documentation introduces the concepts needed to evaluate SEMS monitoring views. It focuses on the meaning of the information presented and the questions to resolve before a deployment. It is not equipment operating documentation and does not provide instructions for changing live systems.

Define sources and measurements

List the site, device and measurement boundary for each required point. Record units and the difference between current power and accumulated energy. Confirm whether a figure represents generation, consumption, import or export. If a calculation is required, document its inputs rather than inferring it from a dashboard label.

Establish data freshness

Agree on expected collection intervals and the meaning of availability indicators. A reading that stopped updating can still look plausible. Operators should know how to recognize stale information and which role investigates the relevant collection or communication path.

Review historical periods

Select a period that answers the operational question and check whether it is complete. Comparing a partial day with a full day can create a misleading impression. Equipment differences, schedules and site conditions should be considered when interpreting a curve or report.

Prepare a technical discussion

Bring an equipment inventory, a high-level description of collection and the reports your users need. Do not place credentials or confidential access details in the initial brief. Exact interfaces, hosting requirements, retention and output formats need to be assessed against the intended project.

Read the technical guide, inspect the platform screens and request a demonstration focused on your requirements. Approved device-specific instructions and deployment documentation should be provided through the project process.

Frequently asked questions

What does the public documentation cover?

The public guides introduce monitoring workflows, data interpretation and the questions to resolve when planning a deployment. They are intended to help users understand the product and prepare an informed discussion.

Is this a complete installation or equipment configuration manual?

No. Public guidance does not establish the configuration steps for a specific installation or device. Those details need to be agreed for the actual equipment and deployment.

Which guide should I read first?

Start with the monitoring overview, then review the solution page closest to your use case. Use the technical guide to organize questions about measurements, site communication and reporting boundaries.
